My Journey

The Frontline: 15 Years in the Trenches

15 years in ER and procedural nursing taught me that clinician safety is essential for patient safety. Daily workplace violence and the physical risks of patient care aren’t just "topics" to me—they are my lived experience. But as I grew in my career, I realized that while I loved the bedside, I wanted to help more than just one patient at a time. I felt a drive to make a broader impact, wanting to influence larger systemic outcomes.

The Boardroom: Decoding the "Why"

That drive led me to the corporate side of healthcare as a Caregiver Safety Consultant. Moving beyond the bedside allowed me to view healthcare through a wide-angle lens. I began identifying the systemic gaps and organizational failures that lead to caregiver harm. I learned how to identify a problem at its source and design the communication strategies necessary to fix it.

The Bridge: My Journey Informs Your Content

Today, I use that high-level diagnostic mindset to help my clients. When I write for you, I am not just a freelancer—I bring a dual perspective: the clinical intuition of a veteran nurse and the analytical precision of a corporate safety consultant.

Hi, I'm Hali.

RN since 2008. Military spouse. Mom of three girls.

I’m a coffee-loving thinker and writer who finds joy snuggling babies in the church nursery, dragging my family on hikes, and diving into a stack of non-fiction. My best ideas usually strike in the shower. I'm an optimistic plant-mom who names every leafy friend and prays they survive my busy schedule.

From the West Coast to England, the Florida Panhandle, and now Oklahoma, my 15-year nursing career spans high-volume ERs, procedural suites, C-suites, and international military hospitals. In every setting, an uncompromising standard of excellence has guided my work. That same standard now drives my mission to advocate for caregivers on the front lines.

My experience informs my writing by providing:

Clinical Authority: I don’t just write about safety compliance; I’ve lived it. My background in high-acuity environments allows me to cut through regulatory jargon and deliver insights that resonate with both clinical staff and administrators.

A "Nurse-to-Nurse" Voice: Because I’ve worked the frontline, I know how to write content that caregivers actually trust. I translate dense safety standards into actionable strategies that fit into the reality of a busy shift.

Advocacy Through Evidence: I believe safety is a right, not a privilege. I use my expertise to identify systemic barriers—like unused equipment or failing protocols—and address them head-on through evidence-based content that drives change.
